Tie it all up

Many people regardless where there are in their education carriers have a hard time researching a certain topic. The hardest thing about researching on a topic is trying to figure out where to start and how to go on about your research. For example when you are doing a research for a certain class they don’t give you words or phrases to search for they tend to give you long and complicated sentences that are impossible to search for. That’s not the case for all research though the reason for that is because when you have something very long to search about it will make it easier on you if you break things apart. Taking that one long sentence and breaking it up in to words or phrases will bring up many different sites that might help you on your topic. Also just by entering a single word could make a difference too because since it’s really broad it will give you many different options. If you don’t want that then you can shorten the topic so that you can get specific searches. I found this class very helpful because I learned things that I was unfamiliar with before I came to class.  WE spent most of our time talking about plagiarism and I was very confused about what plagiarism was and how I could keep myself from making that mistake. It helped me understand that everything you read on the internet is not true regardless how true it might look. This class also helped me understand that even though most things are found on the internet I can still look through books to find things that I am looking for.

Books vs internet

“Since everything I need is on the internet I don’t need books.” When I hear that the only thing that comes to my mind is how people can be corrupted by technology that they can’t go back to where it all started. What I mean by that is when we were younger we used to be obsessed over books we use to go crazy waiting for a new series to come out. Since everything that we need is on the internet we feel as though we don’t need books. Part of that could be because most of us don’t have the time to go to the library go through a list of books and find the information that we need. The internet makes that very easy for us because everything that we need is at the tip of our fingers. If we need a certain information then it’s there with in sec. So therefore many people find that very convenient and easy because we don’t have to spend hours and hours looking through a book to find something. As great as that sounds that could be bad too because the internet has became a place for anyone to crate anything they please. Many websites that you think seem and look so true aren’t the information that they give you are made up and it’s not a reliable source.  Also it’s hard to know which website is true or not because they make it so that you won’t know what true or not. So therefore going through books might not be the most convenient way to go but you are guaranteed that the information is correct.

Thoughts about librarian's

The most important job of a librarian is to be a helpful hand to a student, a teacher, an educator, or anyone looking for ways to further their knowledge about a certain criteria. Librarians help people find information so they can use it for a professional or personal purpose. They also help people find things such as books, articles; DVD’s or find things on the internet. I think librarians should start to engage more with the people that need help with something I feel like now a days we are losing contact with librarians because they’re getting replaced with computers. For example if I take the Aurora Public Library for example if you need help trying to find a book you will search through the libraries computer and it will give you all the information that you need. Then once your ready to check out your book you do it by yourself through a computer.  We have lost the contact, we use to have with librarians I miss the days when I use to go up to them if I got lost and I had no idea what I was doing. I think that the future library would be taken over by computers and technology. There’s going to be less personal contact with people that work there. You will also be expected to do things and find things on your own. I also feel like since you can find everything you need on the internet you wouldn’t need to go to the library unless you needed a quite place to study. Most people are reading less and less each day but, if they do read then there are many technologies out there that makes it easier for them to do so without having to go to the library.

Future

When I get to college I would love to major in biology with a minor in fashion. Since I was a child I have always dreamt of wearing a lab coat and helping save many lives. Every since I can remember that dream has been growing bigger and bigger. Now I am getting ready to graduate from high school and start my life once I get to college my focus is pre med. I want to graduate with a degree in biology because I hope to one day continue my dream and get in to medical school. I feel as though if I major in bio then I am one step closer to reaching my goal. Joining the pre-collegiate program was by far the best thing that I have ever done. It has helped me in so many ways; not only has it prepared me for college but it has also helped me figure out what I wanted to do in the medical field. When I first came in to the program I felt as though I was very confused about what I want to do with my life and where I want to go from here on out. Just by making it this far is a great thing because I have learned so much then what I thought I would. They have helped me with apply to colleges, write my essays, find a carrier path that I want to go in to. I still would have graduated from high school without the program but I feel as though with the program I have learned so much more and I feel like I am more prepared than ever to go out on my own and see what the world has to offer me and what I can offer the world
